The Timeless Elegance of Film: A Portrait Session at Chattanooga's Historic Choo Choo
In an age where digital perfection dominates, there's a unique allure in returning to the roots of photography—shooting on film. For this portrait series, I took a step back into the analog world with Kodak Tri-X 400, a black-and-white film beloved for its versatility, depth, and rich tonal range. The historic Chattanooga Choo Choo served as the perfect backdrop for a shoot that aimed to capture both nostalgia and timeless elegance.
The Location: Chattanooga Choo Choo
The Choo Choo, with its storied past as a railway hub, brought an atmosphere of travel, history, and vintage charm. The textured details of the train cars, riveted metal, and platform lines contrasted beautifully with Gali's soft human expressions.
Why It Matters
This series is a love letter to analog photography, to taking the time to slow down and be present in the process. It’s a reminder of photography’s origins and how far it has come, yet it also highlights the enduring relevance of film in a world of digital saturation. For me, this shoot reaffirmed the value of storytelling through deliberate choices—the choice of film, location, styling, and most importantly, the moments we choose to immortalize.
